Summer Camp
Adventures to learn about me.
A relationship-centred summer camp where participants are supported in exploring who they are at their own pace and in their own way. Through imaginative weekly themes, flexible participation, and consistent, supportive routines, campers are invited to build connection, develop emotional safety, and express themselves authentically. The program prioritizes regulation, choice, and gentle social learning, creating space for each child to feel a sense of belonging without pressure or expectation.
Week Scheduled: July 6th - July 10th
The focus of this week is on helping each participant settle into the environment through calming, sensory-based experiences. Each day supports awareness of personal comfort levels, boundaries, and regulation needs. Participants are encouraged to explore at their own pace while building a sense of safety, predictability, and trust in the space.
Week Scheduled: July 13th - July 17th

It encourages participants to notice and appreciate differences without judgment, while reflecting on their own preferences and sensitivities. The focus is on building comfort with diversity and fostering respectful awareness of self and others.
Week Scheduled: July 20th - July 24th

It supports participants in noticing and naming their emotional experiences, while exploring strategies for regulation and support. The focus is on building emotional awareness in a safe, flexible, and non-pressured way.
Week Scheduled: July 27th - July 31st

It supports growing confidence in trying new things, navigating challenges, and asking for help when needed. The focus is on building independence while maintaining a strong sense of connection and safety.
Week Scheduled: August 4th - August 7th (short week)
This week supports exploration of how each participant learns, thinks, and approaches new ideas. It encourages experimentation, creativity, and multiple ways of solving problems. The focus is on validating different thinking styles while building confidence in curiosity, persistence, and self-expression.
Week Scheduled: August 10th - August 14th
This week invites participants to explore stories, characters, and imaginative play as a way of expressing identity. It supports trying on different roles, perspectives, and ways of being in a safe and flexible environment. The focus is on self-expression, creativity, and understanding oneself through storytelling.
Week Scheduled: August 17th - August 21st
This week highlights each participant’s unique strengths, interests, and support needs. It encourages recognition of personal “superpowers” while building confidence in communicating needs and setting boundaries. The focus is on empowerment, self-awareness, and developing simple, respectful self-advocacy skills.
Week Scheduled: August 24th - August 28th
This week celebrates joy, playfulness, and being fully yourself. It supports spontaneous expression, humour, and creativity in a safe and accepting environment. Understanding this camp and its purpose.
-
This camp was developed by our team consisting of an RSW, CYC-P, and RECE. The idea behind its theme was to help build connection for our participants with the world around them. The light approach allows flexibility in delivery across different age groups.
-
This camp is designed for participants who benefit from a supportive environment that values connection, emotional safety, flexibility, and individuals who require ASL communication.
It is well suited for participants who may find traditional camps overwhelming and who benefit from predictable routines, choice-based participation, and gentle social learning.
-
Our camps are held in the very same pod as our Skills4Success program. The layout of the pod is structured to allow for a highly flexible learning environment. The area is broken down into:
Desk Zone: strategically shaped in a “u” shape, this area is the designated working location for clients to develop their academic skills.
JASPER Stations: specifically setup as multiple breakout stations, all with different toys and activities to promote peer collaboration, creative play, and gross motor skill development.
Library Room: a semi-quiet working area and reading room that is attached to the pod to give opportunities for one-on-one academic support.
Sensory Room: a fully customized room designed to allow children to desensitize from the group environment and manage emotions.
-
While Summer Camp is designed to be supportive, engaging, and fun, it is still a group-based environment and may include periods of noise, movement, and shared activity. Although staff prioritize regulation, choice, and emotional safety, we cannot guarantee that all situations will be calm or predictable at all times. Participation, engagement, and individual experiences may vary, and not all children will respond to the camp environment in the same way.
